Vision Statement

HIMMAT MEDIA: Origins Incubator

We dare to dream of a diverse arts and culture sector where racialised individuals excel and innovate. By fostering collaboration, bridging gaps, and expanding arts professionalism knowledge, we aim to create a creative ecosystem rooted in accessibility and equity.

Our program nurtures grassroots connections and equips participants with real-world, employable skills that fill curriculum gaps.

Our Mission

To empower racialised arts administrators, creative and business professionals by developing their skills, confidence, and opportunities through hands-on, real-world experiences that foster creativity while honing essential industry knowledge with low-barrier access.

Each project and participant of our Origins Incubator programme experiences a process and mentorship that is unique to them, their skills and their interests.

As a result, no two participants experience the mentorship the same way – they may develop similar skills, but support and infrastructure development are a direct response to their unique personality characteristics, their interests, skills, and areas of growth.

Case in Study

Harnaaz Grewal

We collaborated with Harnaaz Grewal to transform her Masters of Social Work project into a powerful qualitative research series, intertwining her passions for anti-racism, feminism, and arts programming. This initiative culminated in an exhibit that not only illuminates critical gender and race disparities in mental health services in BC but also utilizes the ancient tradition of tea making and sharing to foster open and inclusive environments.

Now, Chaa Da Cup is set to launch a new series episode in 2025, along with a new website and digital home for its future content. Harnaaz is also developing public workshops and conducting research for her next series, blending her passions with changemaking and powerful storytelling through multimedia to challenge how we think and feel.
